Japan was hit with an earthquake of 6.3 magnitude at 12:39pm GMT. It happened on the island of Tangegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture. There are no immediate reports of casualties or injuries, no tsunami warnings in place. Japan accounts for roughly 20 percent of the world’s earthquakes of magnitude 6 or greater.
