Optimum seismic preferred supplier AaglaOptimum Seismic has been named the Preferred Supplier of the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles for earthquake retrofit engineering and construction, officials announced today.

The designation distinguishes Optimum Seismic as a trusted leader in the industry. The Optimum Seismic team has 30 years of experience in building and structural retrofits, including apartment buildings, and has completed more than 1,600 projects throughout California.

“The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles strives to protect the interests of apartment owners throughout our region,” said AAGLA President Joe Patel. “We researched the issue and chose Optimum Seismic as the organization’s preferred supplier based on their superior level of experience, integrity, workmanship and quality relationships with their clients.”

The City of Los Angeles last year enacted the nation’s most sweeping seismic regulations, requiring earthquake retrofits of wood-framed, soft-story structures – a type of architecture commonly used in L.A. for apartment buildings, with parking situated on the ground floor, and dwelling units built above it.

Optimum Seismic President and Founder Ali Vahdani, a State of California Licensed Professional Engineer, said these structures are notorious for collapsing during earthquakes and have resulted in numerous deaths, injuries and the destruction of property.

“It is vitally important that these structures be retrofitted properly and with minimal disruption to the people who live there,” Vahdani said. “It’s important that apartment owners educate themselves about their options regarding structural needs, costs, financing and project management.”

AAGLA is hosting a series of workshops throughout the city to inform apartment owners about their obligations under the law, potential liabilities and what to expect from the retrofit process. For more information, contact AAGLA at 213-384-4131.
