Seismic resiliency is not just about saving buildings. It is the key to ensuring that businesses remain open, people can continue to work and sleep in their own homes, and public services remain intact. I am honored to join the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, which has launched an initiative, “Building a Thriving Region for All.” In most instances following a disaster, economic loss far outweighs the cost to rebuild damaged structures. I am excited to be a part of an important regional effort to make Southern California safer, more resilient, and more prosperous. I look forward to working with businesses to ensure their long-term viability.

City Considers Mandatory Seismic Retrofitting

Carpinteria, CA may become another more CA city to require mandatory seismic retrofitting for owners of soft story structures. Carpinteria’s City Council is proposing that the seismic retrofitting occur within 5 years and up to 14 buildings with 300 units would be effected.
