Optimum Seismic, Inc – September 2020 Newsletter

COVID-19 is changing our lives in ways that are similar to an earthquake disaster, with deaths, hospitalizations, shuttered businesses and widespread unemployment. These impacts combine to cause serious economic challenges.

Optimum Seismic teamed up recently with Cal State LA and the Southeast Los Angeles Collaborative for an important Facebook Live event that featured prominent officials in education, health care and economic development, speaking about the impacts the virus has had on local communities: Dr. Wilma Franco, Executive Director of the Southeast Los Angeles CollaborativeDr. Raphael Sonenshein, Executive Director of the Pat Brown Institute at Cal State LA; Berenice Nunez Constant, M.P.H., Vice President of Government Relations, AltaMed Health Services CorporationJose Martinez, Executive Director of Hub Cities Consortium; and Cesar Zaldivar-Motts, Director of Operations, Southeast Community Development Corporation.

These are difficult times that require uncomfortable conversations. But when the topic is something that may save people’s lives or livelihood, we cannot stay quiet. This is a good time to ask yourself: Are you doing your part to help your community?
