California last year experienced two of the largest earthquakes to strike the state in 20 years and saw its deadliest and most destructive wildfire in history. These were jarring reminders of how vulnerable we are and how important it is to prepare for disaster. The U.S. Geological Survey just released its latest hazard risk map, showing a heightened danger in several parts of California, and wildfires are becoming more frequent and fierce. Let’s resolve to make 2020 safer for us all.
