Quake on Windy Day Could Burn Parts of L.A. to Ocean
When a major quake shakes the ground, gas lines can be severed, power lines can collapse and electrical arcs can start fires as everything smashes together. This could spark massive fires that could burn part of Los Angeles to the ocean — particularly if water pipes are broken as well and unable to deliver water for firefighting, experts told LAist.

A 5.9 earthquake hit off the coast of Oregon. The quake 192 miles off the coast was at a depth of about 7.5 miles. It follows a 6.3 earthquake off the southern Oregon coast a week ago.
