Chairman Peter DeFazio said, “It’s not a question of if a major earthquake will affect Oregon, but when.” The U.S. House of Representatives have passed a legislation called the Pacific Northwest Earthquake Preparedness Act of 2019, it will help fund an earthquake early warning system that could save lives from a major earthquake off the Oregon Coast.
